Project Overview

XPO Logistics at their Elwood, IL distribution facility needed emergency structural column replacement after a forklift impact compromised a load-bearing concrete column in their active warehouse. RCC Masonry mobilized quickly to shore and temporarily support the affected roof section, then demolished the damaged column down to the footing. Our crew installed new reinforcing steel tied into the existing foundation, formed the replacement column to match the original dimensions, and poured high-strength concrete rated for the facility's heavy load requirements. We coordinated the work around XPO's 24/7 shipping schedule to minimize operational downtime. The new column was engineered to exceed original load capacity, and the surrounding floor slab was repaired with fresh concrete and sealed to restore the warehouse surface to full service condition.
