Front Entry Stair Rebuild

Project Overview

The front entry stairs at this Chicago home had severely deteriorated over 30 years, with crumbling concrete treads, rusted rebar exposed on the edges, and a significant trip hazard at the landing. RCC Masonry demolished the entire existing staircase and poured a completely new reinforced concrete structure with fiber-mesh reinforcement and properly placed rebar. We formed the stairs with a consistent 7-inch rise and 11-inch run to meet building code, and finished the treads with a broom texture for slip resistance. A new brick-faced knee wall was added on each side to match the home's existing masonry, and we installed a powder-coated aluminum handrail for safety. The new stairs completely transformed the home's entrance and eliminated the liability concern.
