Settled concrete — where one section sinks lower than adjacent sections — creates dangerous trip hazards, directs water toward your foundation, and looks unsightly. In Northern Illinois, soil conditions make settling one of the most common concrete problems.
Leveling Options
RCC Masonry & Concrete offers multiple approaches to settled concrete. For slabs in good structural condition, mudjacking or foam injection can raise them back to level in hours at a fraction of replacement cost. When concrete is also cracked, deteriorated, or too far gone, full removal and replacement with proper sub-base preparation ensures the problem doesn't recur.
Preventing Future Settling
The best prevention is proper sub-base compaction during installation. All new concrete from RCC includes minimum 4 inches of compacted CA-6 gravel over mechanically compacted subgrade. We also ensure proper drainage grading so water doesn't erode soil beneath your concrete over time.
